Chagas disease becoming more common
The triatomine or "kissing bug" transmits the parasite trypanosoma cruzi which causes Chagas disease. The disease is usually found in Central and South America but is becoming more common in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. It is generally treated by antiparasitic medications and if left untreated can cause serious heart abnormalities and strokes.
